List of banned user
This is the list of people I banned over time. I can't remember why for most of them. There are three main groups of banned users: the obsessive, the abusive and the argumentative. A group that is always at the margin are the over-attentive, those people you wish you could get rid off but who never give you any real motive for doing so.
The obsessive are those that keep on nursing old griefs, they are mainly humiliated males that want to get their payback. They keep on harassing you long after you banned them, and will go as far as posting regularly about you and your activities and will look for any ways to get in contact with you. They have elephant memories and can remember everything that was ever posted by or about you. They however lack any sense of logic and will entertain the most amusing or downright puzzling theories about you and your psychology. The best way to get rid of them is to ignore them, which is why I will not mention any name and directly go into the discussion of:
The abusive are much less of a bother, they will just show up one day and begin hurling abuse at you. A quick ban gets rid of them. In other cases though, the abusive start out as regular folks making nice and reflective comments, and will gradually evolve into more hurtful and subtly aggressive notes. They are the passive-aggressive, who are much more difficult to detect and ban in time, especially since they are often able to trick you into liking them at first. Examples of such toxic people are
The argumentative are a common breed on livejournal, they are people that insist on being taken seriously even when their drivel does not warrant any serious attention. They are convinced of their rectitude and of their right to take you to account for any of your misunderstood utterances. They often have an agenda, though it can be summarized as "I am right, I am always right, I am always absolutely right". Examples are
Finally, the over-attentive, whom I could also call the mildly annoying, are those people who will keep making random uninteresting comments, with no real purpose and without being able to attract any real interest on your part. While I label them as over-attentive, I suspect them to be attention seekers who wish to trade their attention for some attention paid to them. Of course, this is a lost cause and they thankfully stop commenting after a while, diverting their attention to nicer personalities than mine. They otherwise turn out of frustration into another of the above categories. Note they often have relationship problems in their life and seek to compensate on LJ.
So, this is the list. I am not sure everyone fits into one of the above categories, because I can't remember why I banned most of them. I guess I could add a category of the forgettable that would account for them.
