Oriana Fallaci

RIP Oriana Fallaci. You will be greatly missed. I think she would have loved the paradox of the current situation, with the Pope being forced to retract when he said that Islam brought only evil and destruction into the world by... a horde of Muslims baying for Christian blood.

How long until we are all asked to convert to Islam because refusing to acknowledge Muhammed as the "prophet" is "deemed offensive" to Muslims. Most of my conversations with Muslims turned quite eery indeed, with one of them telling me that he had a duty to kill me if I insulted his "prophet". I actually preferred not to take him to his word and see what he would do if I said Muhammad was shit. He looked quite intense when he told me that, even though he was otherwise quite sweet and even seemed to have some sense of humor.

I also think the comments by the Pope were quite to the point, when he said Muslims do not believe in the power of reason. There is no hope reasoning with them because they believe their God is not bound by reason, so one can do anything in the name of God. Which is in effect a license to follow one's basest instincts and behave like crazed dogs. Though I guess I should not even call that "base instinct". Dogs have a powerful instinct and yet I never heard of a suicide dog. No, what Muslims do can only spring from sick, disconnected and tortured minds, bent out of shape by the Koran.

years ago i used to talk with Muslims. i remember one particular conversation in which i kept asking why this and why that, fallowing the insane idea that being religious, sometimes, doesn't mean being blind (now i changed my mind). i told this guy that, being raised as a catholic, i knew the reasons of the rules. he told me "why, why, why? you are asking too many why, you are putting the koran under discussion, you just have to be faithful".
Oriana would have shot him.

Hi Honey, Thanks for adding me, I don't know when you did, my friend's list is soooo out of date. I'm on my way to add you back. This topic is very interesting to me. I was raised Catholic and my friends are Muslim. In an even weirder twist, my Muslim friends live next door to the Catholic sisters who helped raise me. Sad about Oriana Fallaci.

Oh wow it's late. Anyway, just wanted to come by and say hell and appologize for the oversight.

Big hugs,
Jac
